The Adventure

Are you hooked on canyoning yet? We have an exciting new course format designed just for you! Our course combines online learning with onsite teaching to ensure you get the most out of your time with our experienced instructors.

Guillaume Coupier from Western Canyoning Adventure and FX Gagnon from West Coast Canyoning have teamed up to offer you the expertise of two industry leaders in Western Canada. Together, they have handpicked the most up-to-date gear and techniques from North America and Europe to tackle the unique canyon conditions in Canada.

We follow the standards set by the American Canyoneering Association (ACA) and the Canyon Guide International (CGI).

Canyoning requires core skills to become a safe participant in a group. Canyons combine the vertical and aquatic worlds in a challenging environment. Rappelling in swift water requires specific gear and techniques to ensure safety. Many accidents in Europe occurred due to the use of traditional rock climbing rappelling gear and techniques. Canyoning is now recognized as a separate sport with its own set of skills and equipment.

Just like you wouldn't start ski touring without proper avalanche training, it's important to receive training for canyoning as well!

Help us build a strong, safe, and sustainable canyoning community in Canada!

During the course, you will learn various skills including rappelling in water, swift water swimming basics, down climbing, sliding, jumping, group communication, rigging, trip planning, and more. Our goal is to make you comfortable in the canyon environment and develop good rope progression skills. You will also learn to understand the risks involved in each trip and how to make informed judgments about whether a trip and team are suitable for you.

The course format includes in-person training from Friday night to Sunday afternoon, with classroom lessons, dry workshops, and a canyon descent. Additionally, there will be 4 hours of at-home learning the week before the course, including one online meeting. This blended format allows for a comprehensive and engaging learning experience.
