Service Description

This 2-day course will give you the skills and knowledge necessary to perform a companion rescue in a canyon environment. Students will develop technical single and double rope techniques via hand on practices and simulations. HERE ARE SOME OF THE POINTS THIS COURSE WILL COVER: -Risk assessment and management in Swiftwater (class C canyons). Swiftwater hazard and -Emergency equipment (gear, shelter, first aid, coms.) -Canyon’s anchors and contingency rigging. -Companion Canyon Rescue Hierarchy -Self-Rescue: rope ascend & knot by-pass -Indirect Rescue: raise and lower, throw lines and tension diagonal and Guided lower/raise -Direct Rescue: pick-off. -Evacuation: Planning, packaging and transport. INCLUDED IN THE PRICE: -Two full days of instruction -Small instructor to participant -Wetsuits and footwear -Personal harness equipped with the required hardware and all group safety gear. NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE: -Transportation -Food -Accommodation -Gratuity for the instructor EXPLORER REQUIREMENTS: This course is designed specifically for intermediate canyoneers who have already acquired rappelling skills, and retrievable rigging and can build anchors using various knots and hitches.
